With another recent discussion within our Facebook group/forum, we have gathered more great climate and environmental songs, now incorporated into our https://climatesteps.org/resources/climate-songs page, doubling its size.
It is excellent, excellent stuff. This writer impressed the hell out of her Dad with the knowledge that not only are there climate songs out there, but that climate communication in this form works, as just watching the videos made me very emotional, as I cried during some of them.
One of the notable things is that climate music covers so many music genres – from folk, to alternative, to rap, to faith, punk, pop, rock, grunge, country, and even choral (via Annie Lennox). In addition, we have a couple songs constructed by members, and we also have a large selection of environmental songs from the 1970s, as that was such an awakened time regarding the environment.

Now, many of these songs are about climate/environmental impact and include some doomerism stuff (Billie Eilish’s – wow!), but the goal of this Resource page is to use the songs to create inspiration and action. We hope you find it helpful in communicating urgency to friends and family, and colleagues if possible.
Remember to pair a song or conversation with a succinct action, as that is what actually helps kickstart action, not the gloom alone. For instance, one practical action that reaches others is to throw a climate movie-watching party or bookclub and play a couple of the videos before and discuss. Be sure to invite new-to-climate-action people to this!

We’ll do another round in a couple of months to update. As the list gets longer (there are apparently 400 songs out there, thanks to Evan George of UCLA – see Additional Resources at the bottom of the page), we’ll break it up into further categories.
